Skullcandy might be best known for more personal, wearable audio equipment - however, it has now broken into the Bluetooth speaker space with its new line-up. The accessories have each been made with a different level of portability in mind: for example, the Ounce integrates a "ballistic nylon strap" that may be all that is needed for its small size, whereas the Terrain XL just has a wrist-strap as they are more likely to be carried in one or both hands.
On that note, the Kilo is the "rugged" variant of the line-up with a carabiner and a durability-focused build to go with its estimated 24-hour battery life, whereas the Ounce and Terrain series are rated to last 14 to 18 hours per charge.
Then again, the proprietary features of SKDY Multi-Link (to sync up to 98 other own-brand speakers at once) and Skullcandy Supreme Sound are exclusive to the Terrain series, as is the Bluetooth 5.3-conferred spec of multi-device pairing.
The Ounce is the most affordable of the new range at US$29.99, whereas both the Kilo and Terrain Mini start at US$39.99. The mid-sized Terrain is US$59.99 whereas the largest Terrain XL variant is US$79.99: prices at which the new speakers are available on Skullcandy.com or Amazon in light grey/blue, black/space grey, dark blue/blue blaze or astro dust color combos.
