The launch of next-generation flagship smartphones is likely four or five months away at the earliest. Nonetheless, leakers like Digital Chat Station and Kartikey Singh continue to provide prospective information about some of the hardware Android OEMs are plotting to bring to market later this year.
For example, there were suggestions earlier this month that the Xiaomi 16 Pro would arrive this autumn sporting an upgraded telephoto camera sensor. Now, new reports indicate that Xiaomi may also opt for the OmniVision OV50Q as a way to improve the handset's primary camera, too. According to Digital Chat Station, the OV50Q features a 1/1.3-inch optical format with support for lateral overflow integration capacitor (LOFIC) technology to maximise HDR imaging.
According to @RODENT950, various Android OEMs will bring the OV50Q to their flagships later this year. Seemingly, another candidate could be the Magic8 Pro, which Honor will likely unveil in the autumn, too. As it stands, both companies are expected to beat Samsung to releasing Snapdragon 8 Elite 2-powered handsets by three or four months. By contrast, Samsung is tipped to continue with the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,029 - refurbished on Amazon) and the rest of the Galaxy S25 series until the end of January 2026 at the earliest.
