The OnePlus Ace series features mid-range smartphones. The Ace 5 series currently consists of two devices: the Ace 5 and the Ace 5 Pro. However, there have been leaks and rumors suggesting that the company will launch a new phone in the Ace 5 series. A new leak from a reputable tipster provides new details about this upcoming phone.
Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo suggests that the new Ace 5 series model will be a performance-oriented mid-range device. The highlight of the phone will be the Dimensity 9400E chipset. This chipset has not been officially announced yet and hence we do not know its details. According to the tipster, the processor will feature flagship-level core architecture and will perform better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. For those unaware, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered many 2024 flagship Android phones including the OnePlus 12.
The tipster also says that the upcoming OnePlus mid-range phone will feature the Fengchi gaming kernel, a chip-level technology aiming to improve gaming performance by optimizing the CPU and GPU.
Apart from that, the earlier leaks (via FoneArena) hinted that the phone may feature a 6.77-inch LTPS display. The phone may offer a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor. On the front, a 16MP selfie camera is expected to be utilized.
Many new mid-range phones are launching with large battery capacities, like the recently launched Redmi Turbo 4 Pro with a 7,550mAh capacity, so we expect a large battery for the upcoming OnePlus mid-range phone. It is also said to have a plastic frame and an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
The phone is expected to be priced under CNY 1999, which roughly translates to 274 USD. All this information is based on leaks and rumors, so take it with a pinch of salt until official details arrive.
