Samsung has managed to somewhat weather the storm when it comes to its continued reliance on 5,000 mAh batteries in its premier flagship smartphones. For instance, the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,067.99 on Amazon) managed to outlast the Xiaomi 15 Ultra by about 7% in our tests despite featuring a 7.5% smaller battery capacity.
Similarly, recent releases like the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and Vivo X200 Ultra do not exceed the battery capacities of their Pro siblings by too many milliampere-hours. A new rumour suggests that the same will not be true going forward with next-generation flagships from Oppo, Vivo or Xiaomi, though.
According to Kartikey Singh, all three manufacturers plan to surpass the 7,000 mAh mark later this year. For the time being, the leaker has not provided specifics. Instead, he reports that the Oppo Find X9 Pro, Vivo X300 Pro and Xiaomi 16 Pro will feature battery capacities that exceed 7,000 mAh.
By contrast, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is only expected to reach around 5,500 mAh. As a result, the Oppo Find X9 Pro, Vivo X300 Pro and Xiaomi 16 Pro could enjoy a circa 27% battery capacity advantage over the Galaxy S26 Ultra. In other words, Samsung's next high-end smartphone is unlikely to reach the battery life of its main Chinese rivals when it launches early next year.
