Rumours about Xiaomi's next compact flagship continue to surface online, despite the recent release of the Xiaomi 15 globally. By all accounts, the Xiaomi 16 will launch this autumn alongside the Xiaomi 16 Pro, but only in China. In comparison, Xiaomi will likely hold back the former until MWC 2026, which will run between March 2 and March 5 in Barcelona.
Previously, earlier speculation pointed to Xiaomi switching to a larger display than the 6.36-inch panel it offers in the Xiaomi 15 (curr. $1,199.99 on Amazon). While this may still be true, a new rumour pegs its panel size to around 6.3-inches. Regardless of actual size, Xiaomi is expected to utilise Low-Injection Pressure Overmolding (LIPO) to reduce bezel thickness between generations.
Moreover, Xiaomi's compact flagship is tipped to return with a trio of 50 MP rear-facing cameras underpinned by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. Widsom Pikachu reiterates that the Xiaomi 16 will launch with the largest battery capacity of any circa-6.3-inch flagship. In other words, it will surpass the 6,260 mAh battery of the OnePlus 13T. Apparently, the Xiaomi 16 could get close to a 7,000 mAh battery capacity, although no concrete evidence has surfaced to corroborate this rumour yet, though.
