Xiaomi's next-gen flagship lineup, the Xiaomi 16 series, is half a year away from launch. Details of the phones have slowly surfaced regardless, with a new leak now claiming the entry-level model in the series will launch with a monstrous battery onboard.
As shared on Weibo by a known leaker, the vanilla Xiaomi 16 is set to outdo its peers by launching with a humongous 7,000 mAh battery later this year. The current-gen model, the Xiaomi 15, debuted in China last year with a 5400 mAh unit and while that's already impressive, it seems this year's phone will blow that out of the water.
Having a massive battery on a small device isn't without precedent, since OnePlus already confirmed a 6,200 mAh battery for the imminent 6.3-inch OnePlus 13T. A prior report also claimed the Xiaomi 16 could be upsized from the 6.36-inch display size of the Xiaomi 15, which would lend credibility to this new rumor of a large battery.
While a 7,000 mAh battery on the Xiaomi 16 may be a tad optimistic, it's likely that the flagship phone will deliver a significant battery upgrade over the Xiaomi 15 (buy on Amazon) nonetheless. The leaker also claims that other small next-gen premium phones, likely indicating the potential Vivo X300 Pro mini, will see identical battery improvements.
