In 2025, Xiaomi could celebrate the return of a feature that hasn't been seen since the Mi 9 from 2019, at least not in the most expensive Pro and Ultra flagships. After pushing for curved edge displays, such as the quad-curved panels used in the Xiaomi 15 Pro and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the Chinese company is returning to an entirely flat display, as the usually reliable leaker Kartikey Singh revealed on X.
This information comes from a current test device, but it's unlikely that the design will change much before its official launch in China, which is presumably scheduled for late September or early October. The leaker further mentions that the display size on the Xiaomi 16 Pro, and presumably the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, will increase from 6.73 inches to over 6.8 inches. Additionally, a previous rumor has been debunked, as the regular Xiaomi 16 apparently won't grow in size and will remain as compact as the 6.36-inch Xiaomi 15.
LIPO technology could allow for an almost bezel-less display
Flat displays could potentially save some production costs, but according to the leaker, that's not the case here. On the contrary, Xiaomi is reportedly using the modern and expensive "Low-Injection Pressure Overmolding" technology in order to minimize the bezels. The Chinese tech company apparently aims for display bezels that measure just 1.1mm or 1.2mm with the frame. According to the leak, these bezels are supposedly symmetrical on all four sides.
