The upcoming Xiaomi 17 Max might be the last addition to the Xiaomi 17 series of smartphones
The Xiaomi 18 will take over sometime in the future, but one final model in the Xiaomi 17 lineup is still on the schedule, and it is not one of the Xiaomi 17T variants. Instead, the huge Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to launch soon with Leica camera upgrades in tow.

Things had been quiet for a while around the Xiaomi 17 Max, which a leaker first described back in January, but the larger and more powerful version of the 6.3-inch Xiaomi 17, currently available on Amazon, may now be close to launch, as Kartikey Singh suggests in a post on X. According to the leaker, the Xiaomi 17 Max will likely be the last model in the Xiaomi 17 lineup, which currently includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

Based on specs that have been circulating for some time, the Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to be more than just a larger, longer-lasting version of the base Xiaomi 17, as its camera setup may also take some cues from the two Pro models. The main camera is said to be getting an upgrade to a 200MP sensor, which at 1/1.4 inch is not especially small. In addition to a 50MP ultra-wide camera, the telephoto camera is also expected to be upgraded to a 50MP periscope telephoto, likely with a 1/1.95-inch sensor, putting it roughly on par with the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

Combined with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.9-inch OLED display, and a potentially massive 8,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi 17 Max could appeal to anyone interested in the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max but not necessarily in need of the rear secondary display. In China, the final Xiaomi 17 flagship is expected to launch in May. Whether it will also come to Europe, unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, remains to be seen.
