The Xiaomi 17T Pro is a powerful high-end smartphone featuring outstanding battery life, an impressive display, and compelling cameras. The new Dimensity 9500 delivers ample performance, while the 7,000 mAh battery ensures exceptionally long runtimes. Weaknesses are primarily evident in the USB 2.0 port, the ultra-wide-angle camera, and performance throttling under sustained load.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro arrives with a clear objective: to improve upon the features that already worked well in its predecessor. Rather than settling for a mere incremental update, Xiaomi has focused on upgrading key components. The new Dimensity 9500 delivers plenty of power for demanding applications and games, while the battery, which has grown to 7,000 mAh, significantly improves endurance. The smartphone also supports rapid recharging, offering 100W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro also competes at a high level when it comes to the display. Its AMOLED panel is extremely bright and color-accurate, supporting a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The screen remains easily readable even in direct sunlight. The display is precise and, thanks to high-frequency dimming, comparatively comfortable even for sensitive users. The Leica camera system delivers impressive overall results. The new main camera captures detailed, appealing shots, particularly in challenging lighting conditions. The 5x optical periscope zoom is also impressive, remaining remarkably usable even at higher magnification levels. However, the ultra-wide-angle camera falls noticeably short, failing to match the quality of the other sensors.

In daily use, the 17T Pro scores points for its high-quality build, IP68 rating, Wi-Fi 7 support, and fast system performance. Input response is reliable, and the fingerprint sensor operates quickly. The speakers are less impressive at high volumes, and call noise cancellation leaves something to be desired. Furthermore, Xiaomi remains unnecessarily conservative regarding the USB port, sticking with USB 2.0 and omitting video output capabilities. The software also draws some criticism; while HyperOS 3.0 offers a wealth of features, it comes with advertisements and numerous pre-installed third-party apps. Software support is solid, though it lags behind the best competitors. Additionally, a power adapter is not included in the box in Europe.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro (buy here on Amazon) is thus a strong and versatile smartphone that impresses above all with its performance, battery life, display, and main camera. It is not a perfect device, but a successful upgrade that consistently builds upon its key strengths. Anyone looking for a particularly durable high-end smartphone with high performance and a versatile camera system will get a convincing overall package, provided the aforementioned weaknesses and the still somewhat outdated USB port are acceptable.
