Xiaomi announces Xiaomi 17 launch event and hints at exclusive perks

It’s been a long time coming. In late September 2025, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in China, followed by the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in December, which also marked the unveiling of a special Leica Edition for the Ultra model. Three months later, the company has finally announced a global launch event for the Xiaomi 17 series, scheduled for 28 February at 2 pm GMT+1 in Barcelona, where three new flagships with Leica cameras are expected to debut ahead of Mobile World Congress 2026.
By now, it is fairly clear which devices might be showcased at the event. Besides the base Xiaomi 17, the company is likely to unveil the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and a special Leica Edition, rumoured to be branded “Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi” in Europe. On the dedicated event page, Xiaomi has added a countdown timer and teased exclusive benefits, possibly aimed at early adopters or interested consumers. During the livestream, viewers who actively participate in the chat will also be entered into a prize draw.
Exclusive perks for Xiaomi 17 buyers
Whilst Xiaomi has yet to provide specific details on preorder deals (unlike Samsung with its Galaxy S26 series), several “exclusive VIP perks” have been announced. The terms and conditions remain unclear, however, since the corresponding link currently redirects users back to the event page. Xiaomi is promising a 24-month warranty, one free screen replacement within 6 months, and waived labour costs for out-of-warranty repairs within the warranty period. Given the steep pricing expected for the global versions of the Xiaomi 17 lineup, these benefits are perhaps a modest consolation for buyers.
