A South Korean media outlet reports Samsung has started mass-producing the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It will be the first foldable to launch with an Exynos chip later this year.

After much back and forth about what SoC the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will launch with, it is finally confirmed it will launch with an Exynos 2500. But X leaker Jukanlosreve says it might as well be the Exynos 2500e because it is a nerfed version of the original chip. Either way, this will be the first Galaxy Z phone to launch with an Exynos SoC.

The Exynos 2500 is said to be manufactured on Samsung's 3 nm based SF3/3GAP node. Industry estimates from earlier suggested its yields were around 40%, making it less than ideal for mass production. But it seems Samsung decided to proceed anyway to save on costs and likely give a new lease of life to its struggling foundry business.

Additionally, the quantity of foldables sold is relatively lower, which, in turn, will need fewer chips. Furthermore, the experience will help Samsung optimize mass production of its 2 nm SF2 node further. Unlike 3GAP, that has a lot riding on it because it will be used to manufacture AI chips for third-party clients like PFN and potentially Qualcomm.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be the only foldable with an Exynos chip in 2025. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy found on the Galaxy S25 trio. Next year, however, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 will switch back to the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy. Specs-wise, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is tipped to offer incremental upgrades over the Flip 6
