Earlier last year, Asus showed off an entirely new line of laptops with the V brand. The Asus V16 was called so because to distinguish itself as a budget offering. Asus has now shown off a new upgraded variant that brings forth a much-needed change. The new Asus V16 (V3607) variant can now be configured with a GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU.
Nvidia unveiled it only some time ago, and a recent Geekbench listing showed it to be around 18% faster than the GeForce RTX 4060 laptop. That alone should make it a better gaming machine than its RTX 4050/3050 powered predecessor. Other specs, such as its 16-inch FHD 144 Hz LCD screen and Intel Core 200 processors, remain the same.
In our in-depth Asus V16 review, we tested the variant with an Intel Core 7 240H and GeForce RTX 3050. Lackluster GPU notwithstanding, the laptop has numerous issues such as a barebones plastic chassis, affinity to gather fingerprints and a somewhat weak processor. The new GPU might not offset all these, but at the very least, its gaming performance will be remarkably better thanks to DLSS 4.0 and other improvements bought forth by Blackwell.
Asus hasn't specified exactly when the new V16 (V3607) goes on sale, but it should ideally show up in storefronts sometime in May, which is around when other RTX 5060 laptops are expected to hit shelves.
