Asus V16 has made its official debut as a new budget-friendly gaming laptop ahead of CES 2025. As the company describes, it's geared to offer powerful performance while residing in the entry-level segment. So, even though the pricing information hasn't been explicitly revealed, it could sit at around the $1,000 mark.
Regarding the specs, the Asus V16 can be equipped with up to non-Ultra Intel Core 7. As we've covered earlier, this non-Ultra 100 series is simply a second refresh of the Raptor Lake lineup. It's mostly geared to go against the rumored AMD Hawk Point refresh, which is expected to launch as the non-AI Ryzen 200 series.
Nonetheless, in the GPU department, the 2024 Asus V16 is equipped with the Nvidia RTX 4050 Laptop GPU. This isn't the most capable budget-centric gaming GPU out there, but Asus has likely gone for it instead of the more capable RTX 4060 Laptop to keep the price tag low.
To ensure stable performance under heavy loads, the CPU and the GPU of the V16 are paired with an advanced cooling system, which Asus says has dual cooling fans and multiple heat pipes. Unlike the Lunar Lake options, this gaming laptop has upgradeable memory, with support for up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5,600 MHz.
Another big highlight of the gaming laptop is the screen. The Asus V16 comes with a 16-inch display that has an FHD resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. With an 89% screen-to-body ratio, it aims to offer an immersive viewing experience, while the Dirac audio technology combined with Audio Booster aims to deliver immersive sound.
Other highlights of the gaming laptop include a large-sized touchpad, MIL-STD-810H rating, and a comfort-forward design. There's no word on when the Asus V16 will be available to purchase, but if you're looking for something similar, check out the HP Victus 15 (i7 12650H-equipped variant curr. $799.99 on Best Buy).
