Asus has introduced two new AMD-based Vivobook models at CES 2025. Called the "Vivobook S 14 (M5406WA) and the "Vivobook S 16 (M5406KA)", the laptops are meant to be multimedia/productivity machines that boast good battery life and beautiful screens.

Alongside the Vivobook S 16 (S5606CA), Asus has introduced the Vivobook S 16 (M5606KA) and the Vivobook S 14 (M5406WA) at CES 2025 with the new AMD Krackan Point APUs. Both laptops feature Aluminum chassis and OLED displays.

Asus Vivobook S 14 and S 16 specifications

The Asus Vivobook S 14 (M5406WA) and S 16 (M5606KA) are similar to the AMD Strix Point versions already available for sale. This means that Asus is essentially introducing new Krackan Point CPU options for both laptops.

Starting with the Asus Vivobook S 16 (M5606KA), the laptop now enjoys AMD Krackan Point APU options like the Ryzen AI 7 350. The SKU equipped with the Ryzen AI 7 350 brings a 16-inch Asus Lumina OLED display with a 2,800x1,800 resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. There is also an FHD webcam with support for Windows Hello.

Moreover, the Ryzen AI 7 350 is paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, 1 TB of replaceable storage, and a 75 Wh battery.

Asus has improved the port situation on the Vivobook S 16 (M5606KA) by adding one more USB 4 port. With this new addition, the Vivobook S 16 (M5606KA) now gets:

  • Two USB 4.0 ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery
  • Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports
  • One USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port (also with DP and PD)
  • A microSD slot
  • One HDMI 2.1 out
  • One 3.5 mm combo jack

Finally, the Asus Vivobook S 16 also features Wi-Fi 6E/BT 5.3 and weighs around 1.5 kg (3.31 lbs).

Moving on to the smaller Asus Vivobook S 14 (M5406WA), the laptop shares a lot of similarities with its 16-inch sibling. The notebook packs the same port configuration, the same battery size (75 Wh), and identical 90 W charging. The key differences between the Vivobook S 14 and the S 16 are the more compact chassis, a smaller 14-inch OLED display, and a lower weight of around 1.3 kg (2.87 lbs).

Specs-wise, the 14-inch OLED display only refreshes at 60 Hz and has a lower resolution of 1,920 x 1,200. That said, the display still covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut and should be plenty for multimedia usage.

When it comes to price and availability, Asus has announced a starting price of $1,099.99 for both the Vivobook S 14 (M5406WA) and Vivobook S 16 (M5606KA). However, the Vivobook S 14 will launch a week later on February 25, 2025 at Best Buy, while the Vivobook S 16 will be available to buy from February 18.
