Asus sells the affordable Vivobook S 14 in a variety of flavors with CPU options from both AMD and Intel. At CES 2025, the company updated the lineup even further with new AMD Krackan Point APU options. So, users can now choose to buy the Asus Vivobook S 14 with either the AMD Ryzen AI 9 Strix Point, AMD Ryzen AI 300 Krackan Point, or Intel Lunar Lake APUs.
Among the other SKUS, the Lunar Lake-based Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA) is right now the cheapest way to get into the series, as the laptop has now recorded a big price drop at Best Buy.
Powered by an Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra 5 226V APU, 16 GB of memory, and 512 GB of storage, you can now buy the Asus Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA) OLED laptop for only $599.99 at Best Buy. The price is the lowest rate for the laptop to date.
Asus Vivobook S 14 should be cool, quiet, and long lasting
While we have yet to review the Asus Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA), we did review a sister model, the Vivobook S 14 (S5406), which shares the Core Ultra 5 226V APU, 14-inch OLED display, and the 75 Wh battery. So, our review should be quite helpful in judging the quality of the Vivobook S 14 Q423SA.
Starting with the display, Asus has done a solid job with the 14-inch OLED panel, as the display has rich contrast, covers DCI-P3/sRGB space fully, and delivers 600 nits of HDR brightness. The only real drawbacks here are the 60 Hz refresh rate and the reflective nature of the panel. Otherwise, the 14-inch 16:10 panel is perfectly suitable for media streaming.
Moving on to the performance, the Core Ultra 5 226V delivers a snappy browsing experience thanks to its eight cores. We measured no slowdowns in routine usage during our testing. Similarly, the 7-core Arc 130V iGPU, while not a beast, allows a smooth frame rate in less demanding titles at 1080p.
Since Intel’s Lunar Lake APU inside the Vivobook S 14 focuses more on efficiency than raw performance, our Vivobook S14 review device managed to run without any significant emissions. This means users can enjoy quiet operation and no overheating.
Finally, our Vivobook S 14 (S5406) sample lasted a whopping 17 hours in the Wi-Fi Websurfing test and an even more impressive 20 hours in the 1080p video playback test.
All in all, the Asus Vivobook S 14 (Q423SA) on sale should satisfy the needs of users who want a portable daily driver with sufficient performance, a good display, and extended runtimes.
