The Asus Zenbook 14 has been a mainstay in the company’s lineup for a while now. The notebook is a portable multimedia machine that is aimed at people who want a nice balance of premium features like an OLED display and affordable price. Asus has now updated the Zenbook 14 for 2025 with both new AMD and Intel CPU options.
Asus Zenbook 14 UM3406KA
Starting with the AMD-based Zenbook 14 UM3406KA, Asus has kept the same chassis as the 2024 Zenbook 14 UM3406 while updating the internals. The laptop now comes with the latest Ryzen AI 7 350 Krackan Point APU with an RDNA 3.5 iGPU. Asus has also bumped the max RAM capacity to 32 GB. This was one of our main complaints regarding the 2024 Zenbook 14 UM3406. So, it is nice to see Asus address the issue.
Moreover, Asus has also upgraded the 14-inch OLED display and users can now opt for a 3K 120 Hz panel. Last year’s Zenbook 14 only offered a 60 Hz panel which had a lower resolution of 1,920 x 1,200.
Aside from these upgrades, Asus has kept virtually everything else, including the port situation, weight, and batter capacity, the same as last year. So, we are still looking at a 75 Wh battery, a weight of 1.2 kg (2.82 lbs), and ports that include:
- One USB 4 connector with DisplayPort and Power Delivery
- One Type-C port with DP and PD
- A single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connector
- An HDMI 2.1 out
- A 3.5 mm audio jack
Finally, the Asus Zenbook 14 UM3406KA will be up for sale at Best Buy and Asus on February 18 at an entry-level price of $999.99.
Asus Zenbook 14 UX3405CA
The Asus Zenbook 14 UX3405CA is identical to the Zenbook 14 UM3406KA in almost every other way except for the CPU options, port selection, and the inclusion of a Wi-Fi 7 chip instead of Wi-Fi 6E.
For the CPU options, Asus Zenbook 14 UX3405CA can be had with either an Intel Core Ultra 7 265H or a Core Ultra 9 285H. The Zenbook 14 with the former CPU is limited to only 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 60 Hz OLED display, while the latter processor option can be configured with either 16 GB or 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 120 Hz OLED display.
As for the high-end display option, the Asus Zenbook 14 will be using an Asus Lumina OLED panel like the Vivobook S 14 and S 16. The 14-inch display covers 100% DCI-P3, features an 1800p resolution, and refreshes at a smooth 120 Hz.
Finally, the Asus Zenbook 14 UX3405CA has an entry price of $999.99 for the version with a Core Ultra 7 265H CPU and a 60 Hz display. The highest-end option with 32 GB of RAM, a 120 Hz OLED panel, and a Core Ultra 9 285H will set you back by $1,299.99. The top-end SKU will be available first at Best Buy/Asus on February 10, while the entry-level SKU will only be available at Best Buy starting March 16, 2025.
