Asus has finally lifted the covers off its Strix Halo-powered gaming tablet that showed up earlier leaks. The newest ROG Flow Z13 ditches Intel hardware for AMD's new Zen 5 powerhouse. For now, there appear to be only two variants and both will set you back by a pretty penny. Additionally, you may have to look at other alternatives if you want to harness Strix Halo's full potential.
The Asus ROG Flow Z13 comes with a 13.4-inch ROG Nebula display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 180 Hz refresh rate, 3 ms response time, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. This is standard across both models, as is the 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD.
The only real difference lies in the CPU, with the top-spec model featuring an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo CPU with 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and a 40 CU RDNA 3.5 GPU. AMD's lofty claims about it outclassing the GeForce RTX 4090 need to be taken with a grain of salt, but you can expect it to perform on par with a laptop GeForce RTX 4070 at least. The lower-spec model comes with an AMD Ryzen Max 390 with a 12-core CPU and 32-core GPU.
For I/O, you get two USB 4.0 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-A port, one HDMI 2.1 port and 3.5 mm combo audio jack and a SD card reader. A 70 Wh battery powers the ROG Flow Z13 and Asus bundles in a 200 Watt charger to keep it topped up. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The CNC milled aluminum chassis comes in only one colourway: Black.
The top-spec Asus ROG Flow Z13 will set you back by $2,199, while the other model is $200 cheaper at $1,999. They will be available for purchase soon.
