Gaming hardware company Razer is notorious for making ultra-slim gaming laptops. The outgoing Razer Blade 16 (2024) which stood at 0.87 is getting a complete overhaul, as the company trims it further down by over 30%. The 2025 Blade 16 is all of 0.59 inches at its thinnest point, cutting it so fine to even beat the 16.2-inch 2024 MacBook Pro.
A natural consequence of such a thin chassis is that the new Razer Blade 16 suffers from a smaller battery than its predecessor. To compensate, the new 90Wh battery has faster charging and a more thorough cooling system.
There are several changes under the hood as well. Razer is replacing the Intel core i9 CPU with an AMD Ryzen AI HX 370 for the first time. Perhaps this will bode well for performance, but real-world testing is required to confirm that. And like the other AI Windows PC's these days, the Blade 16 is also getting a Copilot key. The GPU is also getting an upgrade, as well the audio system which now has six speakers instead of four.
Razer claims the new Blade 16 will have as much as 50% deeper key travel than the previous version, in spite of being the slimmest Razer gaming laptop yet. That means additional 0.5 inches of key travel could make a world of difference to the typing experience.
Expect no drastic changes to the display. Last year's 240 Hz OLED which we tested was excellent, although it paled in brightness at 420 nits compared to the 1000 nits Mini-LED option. This year's Razer Blade 16 will have also have the OLED, although there is no mention of a Mini-LED. Either way, you don't have to wait too long to find out since the ultra-thin Razer Blade 16 will be publicly released in Q1 of this year. The price? Not cheap.
