In what looks like a never-ending sea of Intel Arrow Lake-HX gaming laptops, the MSI Vector A18 HX comes as a breath of fresh air with its AMD Fire Range CPU. Unfortunately, the coveted X3D SKU is not available for this model. You still get the Ryzen 9 9955HX, though. Or, you could get the mysterious Ryzen 9 8945HX that AMD somehow forgot to show off at CES 2025.Unfortunately, you won't get to pair your shiny Fire Range GPU with a GeForce RTX 5090. You have to make do with a16 GB GeForce RTX 5080 or 12 GB GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.
Once again, MSI has neglected to mention how much memory/storage comes with the MSI Vector A18 HX. That will likely vary on a SKU-by-SKU-basis, but 32 GB of DDR5 seems like a bare minimum, given you're paying Ryzen 9 prices. The laptops comes with 1x PCIe Gen 4 and 1x PCIe Gen5 SSD slot each. For peripherals, you get two USB 4.0 ports, three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a SD card reader, a HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack.
The MSI Vector A18 HX comes with an 16-inch QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600) IPS LCD panel that refreshes at 240 Hz. Other specs include a 1080p webcam, a 99.9 Wh battery, 2.5G Ethernet (only on some models), four 2 Watt speakers, a 26-zone RGB keyboard, and a physical privacy shutter for the said webcam.
