Asus decided against updating the ROG Flow Z13 this year. As a result, the most recent model utilises the Intel Raptor Lake-H based Core i9-13900H, which Asus pairs with Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs like the GeForce RTX 4050 (curr. $1,649 on Amazon). In other words, the CPU and GPU underpinning the current ROG Flow Z13 is fast approaching two years old.
There were murmurings earlier this year that Asus was plotting an AMD Strix Halo refresh though, which a recent Geekbench leak supports. Now, early retailer listings suggest that the ROG Flow Z13 will reappear with not one Strix Halo APU option but two. Namely, Ryzen AI Max 390 and Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 APU options have been spotted so far, each with a Radeon 8060S iGPU that contains 40 Compute Units (CUs) utilising AMD's RDNA 3.5 architecture.
Theoretically, this iGPU should give both APUs more graphics performance than the Radeon RX 7600M XT provides. However, the Radeon 8060S is 20 CUs down on the Radeon RX 7800M. For reference, it appears that the Ryzen AI Max 390 and Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 feature 12 and 16 CPU cores, respectively.
Meanwhile, all ROG Flow Z13 variants that have emerged so far come with 1 TB of storage, as well as a 13.4-inch IPS display that delivers a 180 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness and a 2.5K (2,560 x 1,600) native resolution. With that being said, there may be 24 GB and 32 GB of RAM SKUs afoot. Presumably, Asus plans to showcase the new ROG Flow Z13 at CES 2025, having confirmed plans to host a dedicated ROG event during the Las Vegas-based trade show.
