Asus ZenBook 14 UX433FN
The Asus ZenBook 14 UX433FN is a laptop under the ZenBook line, which had a massive design overhaul. The ZenBook 14 now features smaller bezels, a new hinge, and a more premium finish than any previous ZenBook. The lid has the same spun metal finish as most previous models, which is the best indicator that this is still a ZenBook while the rest of the body has an anodized metal finish available in either Royal Blue or Icicle Silver. Thanks to the new bezels and other design tweaks this is a seriously compact laptop, with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio and a body that’s smaller than most 13-inch laptops, let alone rival 14-inch models, measuring 31.9 x 19.9 x 1.59cm. It’s pretty light too, weighing 1.09 kg with the optional anti-glare display, and slightly more at 1.19 kg with the standard screen. It's a little thicker, at 1.59 cm, but that's still fairly slim. The new ZenBook 14 now feature Asus’s ‘ErgoLift hinge’, which is a fancy name for a simple hook design that helps lift the back of the laptop up as users open it. That both puts the keyboard at a more comfortable angle for typing and handily improves both cooling and audio performance according to the company. As for displays, it is a Full HD (1,920 × 1,080). Asus says that all of the displays feature 178-degree viewing angles and cover 72% of the NTSC color gamut, which is roughly equivalent to 100 % of the sRGB gamut. The display feature Asus’s ‘NanoEdge’ technology, which is essentially a fancy way of saying that it has very slim bezels, which boasts a 95 % screen-to-body ratio. In terms of core specs, a user gets an i7-8565U processor 8th-gen backed up by a separate Nvidia GeForce MX150 GPU. It’s hardly the most powerful graphics card around, but we’re pleased to see Asus sticking with the discrete GPU in such a portable device. Other than that, a user gets 16 GB DDR3 RAM and 512 GB SSD storage. This should breeze through day-to-day stuff and comfortably cope with creative work like image editing or light video processing too. The ZenBook laptops have usually been pretty strong in connectivity and input, and the ZenBook 14 doesn’t disappoint. Asus is continuing its commitment to proper ports even in an ultrabook, with the obligatory USB-C backed up by two USB-A ports, HDMI, a headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and the power socket. That’s a lot of connectivity for such a slim laptop. A user also gets a 3D IR camera, which Asus says should help use face to log even in low light, placed in the top bezel of the screen. Then there’s voice recognition to use with Alexa or Cortana, along with Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band 802.11ac gigabit-class Wi-Fi. As for audio, the speakers once again come from Harman Kardon in a setup Asus has called ‘SonicMaster’. Asus is promising up to 14 hours of battery life, which is in line with recent models. It’s not quite up there with battery champs like the XPS 13, but it should be more than enough for most people. Thus, users who are always on the go such as business professionals or heavy users can definitely consider this laptop for its lightweight build and powerful hardware. ASUS has focused on getting the basics right without making any trade-offs while trying to design a thin bezel, powerful yet light laptop. Their innovation on the virtual numpad and ErgoLift is also commendable, and allows the Zenbook 14 UX433F to stand out from any other products in the market. All things considered, this is indeed one of the best notebook computers you can buy in the market right now.

The ZenBook 14 is an excellent mainstream notebook from ASUS with lots to like and little to fault. The overall design is outstanding, especially when you consider it is more compact than most 13-inch notebooks and it even meets the MIL-STD-810 standards for ruggedness. It also has a ton of useful and thoughtful features too, such as the ErgoLift hinge, the NumberPad, and full-size USB-A and HDMI ports. General performance was good too and the battery life is decent for a system with its specifications. And then there’s its attractive price. The only things that count against it are the lackluster graphics performance, lack of Thunderbolt 3 support, and the narrow trackpad. All things considered, it’s one of the best bang for buck notebooks you can buy, thus earning our Best Value seal of approval.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 is one of those laptops you pick if you want something for productivity yet portable and attractive at the same time. It has a nice display with slim bezels, premium chassis, solid speakers, and packs decent performance and respectable battery life. As for the virtual NumPad, it’s something we rarely used, but it’s cool and nice to have around.

Based on what we’ve seen, the ZenBook 14 is a very promising shakeup to the Asus laptop line. It’s smaller, lighter, and better looking, without sacrificing either ports or power, and it packs in a novelty numpad.

The new ZenBook 14 has a mind-boggling 92 percent screen-to-body ratio to best even the XPS 13. How did Asus manage to achieve such narrow bezels on all four sides of the display while still offering 100 percent sRGB and Whiskey Lake-U?

If not for a lackluster screen, a bit of bloatware, and some minor quibbles around the touchpad, the ZenBook 14 would be setting a standard among the ultralight crowd. But it's still a solid little machine for the screen size and price.

The Asus Zenbook 14 is one of the best laptops from Asus. The notebook comes loaded with a sleek design and it is quite compact in nature. The display is sharp and provides an immersive viewing experience, though it is quite reflective in nature. The performance is top notch, though coil whine issue can bother some. The battery life is simply amazing. To conclude, if you are looking for a compact yet powerful laptop and budget is not a constraint then this can be considered as one option.

The ZenBook 14 is a really good laptop. It has the looks and the performance in equal measures. It’s easy to live with on a daily basis -- the display is good, the audio is decent, the typing experience is satisfying for an ultrabook with the unique ErgoLift hinge. The compact form is extremely portable and, with a Core i7 processor, it can hang on even when the user demands some performance.

ASUS ZenBook 14 UX433 is one of the pretties laptops we ever tested. Not only it looks good, but it has some very impressive visual parameters – thin profile, low weight and small area. In addition to that it is equipped with a fast hardware – with the Whiskey Lake CPUs it flies through the UI. Not only that but it is never too annoying, as the fan is ever so quiet.

ASUS has packed powerful hardware into a sleek and compact case, which is impressive on the face of it. Unfortunately, this feat cannot be done without compromising somewhere, which we tackle in this review. The UX433FN shares many of its features with its siblings that we have already reviewed like its IPS screen, NVMe SSD, dual-channel RAM and backlit keyboard. Sadly, ASUS equips this model with a reflective display too.

A good laptop with a gnawing problem: its in-trackpad screen feels like an awkward appendage. However, the design is compact given the screen size, the keyboard is responsive, and there's real performance versatility here. At the right price, therefore, it's a capable bargain.

At the £1,499 price point, the Asus ZenBook 14 UX434F has all the hallmarks of a premium ultra-portable PC. Design and build quality are top-notch, and despite being one of the smallest 14in laptops on the market, there's plenty of performance courtesy of a fast Core i7 CPU, GeForce MX graphics and a spacious 1TB M.2 SSD.

Well, if you’re a professional or even a student and you carry around your laptop on a daily basis, the Asus Zenbook 14 UX434 is the right combination of style and substance. It’s built extremely well, it can be carried around with ease, has good internals, and even has a secondary display which adds a ton of multitasking capabilities. There’s not much to complain about either, just that it’s not fit for gaming or editing long videos. Yes, the price is slightly premium, but you pay for the form factor and the uniqueness of that ScreenPad. The base variant with a Core i5 chip starts at Rs. 79,990 and if your budget permits, you should get the Zenbook 14 UX434. It’s surely one of our favorite laptops of the year, and we’re pretty sure you will be of the same impression once you get your hands on it!

The Asus ZenBook 14 will appeal if you’re after a Windows laptop to do the basics, but want something that absolutely blitzes basic PC tasks and looks stylish to boot. The ZenBook 14 certainly does that. A smart-looking and compact Windows 10 laptop with an interesting selling point in the form of the ScreenPad, ideal for students and lifestyle use. Its display isn’t quite accurate enough to be considered an option for professional creatives however.

As did the ASUS ZenBook 14 UX433, the ZenBook 14 UX434 is also going to get our Editor’s choice award. It is because of the great build quality, fast hardware, and brilliant screen. However, the largest contributor to that is the innovations ASUS put into this laptop. We are super excited to test unique laptops that are on the bleeding edge of technology. We hope that this is going to encourage more and more manufacturers to start putting more effort into the diversification of the industry.

The ZenBook 13 UX434FL builds on the previous UX433 series, keeping the compact form factor, exquisite design and fast keyboard, but adding a touchscreen, a glass-cover ScreenPad, and updated hardware, all in a competitively priced package in its segment. My concerns are with the gaming experience provided by the two samples we've tested for this review, as well as with the potential QC issues that affected the previous generation and might also affect the updated model, both explained in the article below.

The Asus ZenBook 14 is thin, light and elegant, but the Screenpad 2.0 might take some getting used to. Luckily it's still powerful enough to power through most workloads.

Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T
The release of the Asus ZenBook series has received much positive feedback from the community due to its sophisticated design, which can be amicably acquired at a very budget-friendly price point. The Asus ZenBook 14 (UX431) is the newest addition to be included into the brand’s long running lineup as it is one of the most premium products to be released in the year of 2019 by Asus. The Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T in particular has demonstrated much prowess and promise when it comes to performance as well as in the promotion of work productivity. It comes with a super-compact 14-inch NanoEdge display. This NanoEdge design is a product of an ultra-narrow bezel being fitted into the fine structure of the svelte chassis. This enables the display of the Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T to reach maximum viewing comfort, while still being able to project anti-glare immersive visuals with lesser distraction to the user’s eyes. This ideology plays directly into enhancing the quality of life of an Asus PC user while still retaining every other aspect that has garnered much reputation from gathered feedback. The ultra-narrow bezels on both aligned sides are shrunk down to a minimal 6.5 millimeters, which also proportionally cuts down on the overall size of the Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T. This vision stays imminently true to the concept behind the ZenBook prior to its initial launch due to the idea of creating a lineup, which is not only work-oriented, but also convenient and practical to commute around with. Not only that, the Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T looks absolutely impeccable in the brand new Utopia Blue color on a spun-metal finish, which perfects the look with a quiet serenity as well as a respectable degree of upper-class sophistication. Performance of the Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T is being handled by an Intel Core i7-8565U processor and an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card. Both of these core components are splendid in their own regard. For instance, the Intel Core i7-8565U processor unit is capable of clocking at a performance rate of 1.8 GHz and up to 4.6 GHz upon the activation of Intel Turbo Boost technology. The NVIDIA GeForce 150 GPU on the other hand provides an additional 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory, which paves the way to some light gaming for interested users. However, it is important to note that neither the NVIDIA GeForce 150 GPU nor the Asus ZenBook 14 UX431FL-AN012T are capable of sustaining modern Triple A (AAA) games that require better components in order to properly launch. To conclude this review, we can say that the Asus ZenBook 14 UM431 is a really good pick for those of you who are looking out for a laptop for good performance on a budget. The Asus ZenBook 14 UM431 retails at Rs 59,990 in the Indian Markets. This is a great price for a laptop with these specifications.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 is one nice ultraportable, with a design that looks way more premium than its RM2999 price tag, and a good display to boot. The unfortunate part is that you can’t really use the sweet screen for much due to the limited 6GB of RAM available. With it being non-upgradable, it really is a pity that this laptop is held back by such a simple handicap. If you plan on using the ASUS ZenBook 14 UM431D for less RAM-hogging applications, it might be a decent choice, as you really don’t get such pretty laptops at this sub-RM3000 price point.

What you have with the ZenBook 14 UM431 is a highly affordable, well constructed ultraportable that has excellent build quality and serviceable performance. Battery life is middling at best but what makes it truly appealing is that it clocks in at just RM2,999. If you’re on a budget and are looking for a good looking workhorse, this is well worth your consideration.

However, we do see the ZenBook 14 UM431D as an everyday laptop to get some simple Microsoft Office work done, with Chrome running YouTube and social media. Maybe Spotify and lightweight Photoshop too. For that use case, the ZenBook 14 UM431D is an instant recommendation from us.

Retailing at RM2999, the ZenBook 14 falls under the competitive mainstream laptop category, where other brands are also offering laptops with a similar set of hardware, but what’s going to make you want to consider this machine would be its great hardware build and design, although it’s quite a shame that it doesn’t give you the option to increase RAM, you can still at least upgrade the SSD if you ever want to, this is the most beautiful AMD Ryzen mobile powered laptop that you will ever get the chance to own.

The Asus ZenBook series usually packs Intel processors and, in some cases, NVIDIA MX-series graphics but this time around, Asus has issued a variant of their new ZenBook 14 series with an AMD processor and Radeon Vega 8 integrated graphics. Dubbed the ZenBook 14 UM431, the notebook costs just a hair under RM3,000 which is a good deal cheaper than its Intel-packing cousins but how does it measure up to Asus’ usual standards? Well, let’s peek under the hood and find out.

At Rs 59,990, the Asus ZenBook 14 is a decent offering and is able to compete with a lot of slim and light offerings currently in the market including the MacBook Air and the Lenovo Ideapad S540. It is quite a good laptop and might have been able to take the all-rounder tag if it wasn’t for a few quirks. If you are in the market for a thin and light laptop, the Asus ZenBook 14 UM431 is quite a good option. However, if gaming is a requirement, I would recommend that you try and find another option, with better cooling capabilities and a more airy design.

Given that the new AMD Ryzen-powered Asus ZenBook 14 is entering the market at Rs 59,990 when the refreshed ZenBook 14 with an Intel 8th Gen Core i5 CPU and ScreenPad 2.0 is selling on Amazon.in for Rs 75,990, I expected some visible compromises in screen quality, perhaps audio, and overall performance. But to my pleasant surprise, that is not the case with the new Asus entrant. Except for a few design niggles here or there (small keys and loose touchpad, for example), the new Asus ZenBook 14 is perfect all around.

Summing up, how good is the Zenbook 14 UM431DA with Ryzen 5 priced around 60000 in India? In our testing of this premium ultrabook, we were quite impressed with the performance offered on this laptop. With great design and nano edge display and good performance coupled with decent battery life, the Zenbook 14 UM431DA is a good option for anyone looking for a premium experience at a lesser price . The cons of the laptop include, no USB type A 3.1 gen 2 ports and it ships with older generation. Also, there is no USB Type C charging option available. Otherwise, the Zenbook 14 UM431DA is a great option at this price segment.

Asus has updated its Zenbook 14 OLED, now making use of an even more compact and lightweight case. Even so, it still features an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H which, in turn, now demands more from the installed cooling unit. Its new 120-Hz OLED display, on the other hand, impresses with accurate colors and good HDR capabilities.

I say almost though, because it’s just a little bit too expensive in my view to compel someone enough to switch from a MacBook Air to this laptop instead. Originally priced at RM5,999 when it debuted in Malaysia a couple of months ago, the Zenbook 14 OLED with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage that we have here now goes for RM6,299 thanks to inflation. We understand that the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, originally priced at RM4,499, has also received a price hike, but we’re still waiting to know its revised price. It should be pointed out that the MacBook Air, despite starting at RM4,799 for the M2 and RM5,199 for the M3 version, comes with only 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage stock in comparison. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a productivity focused thin-and-light Windows laptop, the Zenbook 14 OLED is certainly up there in my opinion.

Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a productivity focused thin-and-light Windows laptop, the Zenbook 14 OLED is certainly up there in my opinion.

As an all-rounder for work, life and even a bit of light gaming, there's little wrong with the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED. That sounds like damning it with faint praise, but it does have a standout quality – the display is simply divine and among the best you'll find anywhere. So if you want something sleek, portable and not fruit-flavoured then the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED is a terrific choice. It helps that it's powered by the newest-generation Intel processors – and while there's not much to show off in terms of AI features yet, you can bet the future will be full of them.

ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) is a long-awaited evolutionary update of the popular ultraportable laptop that has a number of undeniable advantages. First of all, it has a gorgeous OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, long battery life, and a stylish metal body. The comfortable keyboard and touchpad are also very pleasing. The new Intel Core Ultra processor has demonstrated a significant performance increase over the previous generation. But all of its capabilities will be fully appreciated when neural networks and machine learning are used more widely in software. The Zenbook line has never been known for its low price, and the new Zenbook 14 OLED is no different. Among the wishes, we can mention that a card reader, which was in many models of the line, would be appropriate.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is one of the best laptops I’ve used in the past while. Great for business use or everyday computing tasks, it comes with some very functional additional features. The OLED display is great, as are the Harman Kardon Dolby Atmos speakers, allowing you to use the laptop for entertainment enjoyment as well. Not to mention the fantastic battery life. It is for these reasons, and more, that the Zenbook 14 OLED is one of our first Top Picks of 2024 here at Techaeris.

Last month we gave a Editors' Choice award for midrange ultraportables to Asus' Zenbook 14X OLED Q420. The Zenbook 14 OLED UX3405 narrowly misses that honor because it's less of an impulse buy—but if you stop to think, its $300 higher price buys you Intel's newer AI-enhanced CPU, double the memory and storage, and a system that's half a pound lighter. The 14-inch ultraportable arena is packed with first-class contenders from the HP Pavilion Plus 14 to the legendary Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, but you shouldn't overlook the Zenbooks.

Okay, let’s wrap things up now. And all things considered, the 2024 iteration of the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED gets a lot of things right. To the point where you could argue that this is the best thin-and-light laptop out there. Mostly helped by all the performance and efficiency gains of Intel’s fresh new Meteor Lake processor. And if you fall into that subset of users that’s looking for a premium and portable Windows laptop with a great battery life, a nice display, and a reasonably powerful integrated GPU, the Zenbook 14 OLED is among the few laptops that checks all your boxes. But as I discussed throughout this review of the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (2024), Meteor Lake isn’t exactly “a perfectly polished product” as you might’ve originally thought. The performance and battery life inconsistency thing that I mentioned earlier is a big deal that Intel needs to work on fixing it as soon as possible.

I showed this laptop to a friend who uses a MacBook Pro, and he too gave it a serious thought. While Windows is a major factor when considering something other than a MacBook, it is time we admit that Windows machines are getting pretty good too. Spec for spec, feature for feature, ASUS is giving you a touchscreen laptop with a 3k OLED display, really good speakers, a solid battery life, and a durable chassis. But then as I said in the headline, it is skipping the basics. It still ships with a clunky charger and no 360-degree mode. The bottom line is if you’re someone who frequently travels, or needs a light and powerful laptop, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a good choice. It has great specs and a good display for work and multimedia consumption. You’ll just have to live with the occasional glare under direct sunlight, and maybe use a lighter third-party charger.

Back in 2023, I got an opportunity to witness how Intel makes its latest mobile chips that power the “AI PCs.” And since then, I have wanted to test the real-world performance of these chips to understand the AI capabilities enabled by them. When Asus sent me their latest Zenbook, which is one of the first laptops in the country powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor, I was more than intrigued to test it.

If you are looking for lots of power in a fairly lightweight package, but don't need top-level graphics grunt, look no further. It's got the greatest laptop screen on Earth right now, a brilliant, bright, sharp OLED touchscreen, and CPU performance on par with the new, and much more expensive, MacBook Pro. It also offers a big jump in graphics performance over previous integrated graphics laptops thanks to a well-implemented and functioning AI Boost NPU, although it doesn't quite reach into the realms of high-power animation, graphic design or video editing.

Since the debut of Apple Silicon MacBooks, the search for an equivalent Windows laptop that matches their blend of performance, battery life, portability, and efficiency has been unfulfilled until the introduction of Asus' Zenbook 14 OLED. With the Intel Meteor Lake architecture, this laptop not only approaches but also surpasses the expectations set by thin Windows productivity laptops in many aspects. Featuring a stunning 14-inch OLED display, a design that balances slimness with style, and a new processor that boasts significant performance and efficiency gains, the Zenbook 14 OLED is a compelling choice for those seeking a high-performance, ultraportable laptop. Despite minor drawbacks in its webcam and speaker system, it presents a comprehensive package that marks a significant milestone in productivity laptops.

The latest in the Asus Zenbook lineup, the all-new Asus Zenbook 14 OLED comes with a host of improvements across the board. However, the star of the show is the Intel Core Ultra 155H processor under the hood, combined with the new Intel ARC integrated graphics. Both of these are brand new from the Intel stable and they make the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED a performance powerhouse across the board. Unlike previous scenarios where you could either have long battery life or a high-performing processor in a thin and light laptop, with the Intel Core Ultra 155H, you get both. No compromise on performance or battery life, and the much-improved Intel ARC IGP graphics performance is the cherry on top. All of this makes the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED a power-packed machine that is ready for the on-device generative AI workloads and applications which is a rapidly evolving space.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) is a compact and light 14-icnher that is offered with all-new Intel Meteor Lake-H CPU options. The device feels very responsive for regular home or office usage. We tried to open some Web sites and play a few YouTube videos while Cinebench R2024 was running in the background and everything was working smoothly. In our case, the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H can be found under the bonnet. This powerful chip is a true challenge for the cooling system, especially because the profile thickness of the laptop is sub-15 mm. The optional 1800p OLED panel (Samsung ATNA40CU06-0 (SDC419D)) offers full sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage alongside fast pixel response times paired with a 120Hz frequency. In addition, the infinite contrast ratio and the good max brightness can be appreciated by all users, especially the ones who like to watch movies.

Moving on to the laptop itself, we absolutely love the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UX3405M and fully understand why Intel chose this laptop to showcase their new CPU. It is very thin and light yet packs a 14-inch OLED screen that almost seems larger than the chassis itself. The keyboard and touchpad are perfectly decent and you get a decent selection of ports and connectors along with WiFi 6E for fast wireless connectivity. The battery life is absolutely superb and means you can forget about looking for a mains socket during your working day. The final cherry on top of this particular cake is that the price is very reasonable, and that makes it a very sensible purchase. You can buy the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UX3405M for £1,299.99 with Core Ultra 7 155H and 16GB RAM, or for £1399.99 with Core Ultra 9 185H and 32GB RAM.

The last time I was this excited about a laptop, it was when ASUS launched the first iteration of the ROG Zephyrus G14, which is also when AMD beat Intel at its own game with the Ryzen 9 4900HS. Fast forward to today, and it’s clear Intel is intent on coming back with a vengeance. Granted, I really wish at least one of the USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports were located on the left side, and that ASUS didn’t skimp on Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 but hey, Wi-Fi 6E is still plenty fast. From the powerhouse Meteor Lake CPU, to the laptop’s sleek lightweight chassis, right down to the Macbook-esque battery endurance, and with a starting SRP of RM4,499. The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a laptop I can wholeheartedly recommend to those in the market for a long-lasting thin and light laptop with pros that truly outweigh the cons.

The 2024 Zenbook 14 OLED leverages Intel’s latest chipset to provide excellent productivity performance with a very solid build and an outstanding OLED display. It’s a very solid choice for a 14-inch laptop if you aren’t a creator who needs a discrete GPU. At $1,300, the Zenbook is a good value but not a great one. But here’s the catch — you may want to wait and see if Asus launches a cheaper configuration. This is probably not a laptop you’ll need 32GB of RAM for, and if Asus eventually rolls out a 16GB model, that’ll be the one to buy.

But now, let me add some more. Given that I have reviewed the top variant of the Zenbook 14 OLED, I can only give my recommendation about it. See the hardware difference between the base variant and the top variant is quite significant - for example, you may not get the same battery life in the base variant because that laptop uses an older Core i5 processor. But this one - the top variant of the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED - is in my opinion one of the best, like totally totally best, work laptops you can buy. It is fast, it looks great, its battery life is phenomenal, its screen is one of the best I have seen, and its keyboard and trackpad are nifty. It is an all-rounder, and the fact that it weighs just 1.3 kgs makes it all the more appealing. In other words, if you are looking for a premium work or college laptop, or just a laptop that you can carry with you everywhere, the Zenbook 14 OLED perfectly fits the bill. Sure, it is expensive but then all good things in one way or another are.

It’s not the flashiest thin and light laptop around, but the Zenbook 14 OLED makes up for that with a sublime display, great connectivity, and competitive battery life. The Macbook Air M2 still takes the lead on longevity, but Intel’s new processor generation has helped close the gap on performance. A few niche use cases mean it still feels like early days for Meteor Lake’s AI acceleration, although I can see its potential in features like video call background blurring. Ultimately, with no major weaknesses anywhere else and a price not too dissimilar to the Apple alternative, Windows fans should feel right home in front of one of these.

The configuration that we have today, in the Core Ultra 5 125H + 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD configuration, will cost RM4,499 apiece. There’s also the higher-end configuration with Core Ultra 7 155H + 32GB RAM + 1TB SSD, but that one in my opinion is slightly worse off in terms of value proposition. For the price of the Core Ultra 5 model, you’re getting a lot of laptop out of the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) – this laptop basically ticked every box any typical user would demand out of their machine, and for someone as picky as myself, I could hardly find any significant flaw in the entire package. If I didn’t have a particular need for a firepower-heavy laptop today, this would be my next laptop.

And that’s all we have to share with you about this laptop. Honestly speaking, the price of RM5,999 for this laptop is actually cheaper than last year’s Zenbook 14X OLED UX3404 yet offers so much more. We get higher performance, much better battery life, and also the NPU for more efficient AI processing. So what do you think about this ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED UX3405? This 2024 Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UX3405 is a result of multiple updates and refinements over many generations of 14-inch Zenbooks. It's a premium portable laptop with no major flaws and a competitive price. It's also more powerful and more efficient that past Zenbooks, thanks to the Intel Meteor Lake hardware platform inside. So all in all, this is going to be a great option in its class in the next months and even years.

Overall, I’m coming away impressed with the Zenbook 14 OLED. It’s an all-around solid thin-and-light Windows laptop with a good design, awesome display and decent performance. Most of my issues stemmed from my review unit being a pre-production model. Beyond that, the only real letdown came from Intel’s new chip. While it’s not bad, it didn’t quite meet the hype. At best, the Core Ultra felt a little better than previous-generation CPUs. Still, it didn’t hold back the Zenbook 14. The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED is available now in Canada through the Asus e-store or Best Buy. It’s worth noting that the Core Ultra 7 variant is exclusive to the latter.

Overall, the ZenBook 14 OLED is a cracking laptop, then. Performance is solid, battery life is good, it has a great screen and ergonomics and build quality is top notch. With prices starting at £1,099, it’s strong competition for the likes of the 13.6in and 15in MacBook Air. As a showcase for Intel’s latest CPU, however, I’d have to say the jury’s out right now. Battery life is good for a Windows machine in this class but it still lags behind the likes of Apple’s M3 MacBook Pro and there isn’t much, if any, of a performance bump over the previous generation of Intel processors.

With its thin and light design, the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED can’t quite show off the full potential of Intel’s new Core 7 Ultra CPU, but it makes a great demonstration of how the new architecture is enabling manufacturers to reach higher levels of performance from an ultraportable device. It comfortably tops similar devices from the previous generation, like the Dell XPS 13 Plus (2023), and even larger ones, like the Asus Zenbook 15 OLED and LG Gram SuperSlim. In fact, with its fantastic OLED screen and comfortable ergonomics, the Asus could work as a creator’s laptop or a business machine, or just about anything else bar a full-blooded gaming PC. Here the new Arc iGPU is a huge improvement on Intel’s earlier integrated graphics tech – and serious competition for AMD’s fastest APUs in the likes of the Acer Swift Edge 16 – but still not in the same league as dedicated hardware. If you want more gaming capabilities, you’ll need to look for something bigger, heavier and faster, but this is a brilliant and versatile ultraportable for everyone else.

That 14th Gen Intel Core Ultra performance is good enough for creative users, as well as gaming - thanks to the Arc GPU. Plus you have a dedicated NPU for AI tasks, including smart camera features and stable diffusion. The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED laptop also boasts a gorgeous display, with crisp contrast and poppy colours.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.
Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.
Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce MX150: Pascal GP108 based laptop graphics card and mobile version of the desktop GeForce GT 1030. Offers 384 shader cores and usually 2 GB GDDR5 with a 64 Bit memory bus. Manufactured in 14nm.
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.
NVIDIA GeForce MX250: Successor of the MX150 and still based on the same Pascal GP108 chip (similar to the desktop GT 1030) but with higher clock speeds. Available in two versions, a normal 25 Watt version and a low power version with 10 Watt TDP and reduced performance. The 25 Watt version e.g. offers a 21% higher boost clock than the old MX150 leading to a 5% performance gain.
AMD Vega 8: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 8 CUs (= 512 shaders) and a clock of up to 1100 MHz.
AMD Vega 10: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 10 CUs (=640 shaders) and a clock of up to 1300 MHz.
AMD Vega 7: Integrated graphics adapter of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 7 CUs (= 448 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 1,600 MHz.
AMD Vega 8: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 8 CUs (= 512 shaders) and a clock of up to 2.100 MHz.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
Intel Arc 8-Core: Integrated graphics adapter based on the Xe LPG architecture (similar to the dedicated Arc GPUs, but with a focus on efficiency). Provides all 8 Xe cores (128 Xe vector engines) and 8 ray tracing units.
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
i7-8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.
Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:
i5-8250U: Kaby-Lake-Refresh based low power quad-core processor. The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.4 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading. The integrated GPU is clocked between 300 and 1,100 MHz. The SoC is manufactured in a 14nm+ FinFET process.
Intel Core i5:
i5-8265U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.9 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.
AMD Picasso (Ryzen 3000 APU):
R5 3500U: Mobile Quad-Core APU using Zen+ cores clocked at 2.1 to 3.7 GHz and a Vega iGPU with 8 CUs running at up to 1200 MHz.
R7 3700U: A laptop-grade APU featuring four Zen+ cores clocked at 2.3 GHz to 4 GHz and a Vega graphics adapter with 10 CUs clocked at up to 1,400 MHz.
Intel Comet Lake:
i7-10510U: Comet Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced on 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 1.8 and 4.9 GHz (all 4 cores 4.3 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (8 threads). The integrated memory controller supports DDR4-2666 and using cTDP up/down the performance can be adjusted by the OEM (10 - 25 Watt possible, 15W default).
i5-10210U: Comet Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced in 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 1.6 and 4.2 GHz (all 4 cores 3.9 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (8 threads). 14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
