The Asus TUF A18 is a brand-new 18-inch gaming laptop with next-generation internals. Powered by up to an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 260 CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, the TUF A18 aims to bring commendable gaming prowess without requiring a second mortgage.

As gaming laptops continue to climb the dreaded price ladder, affordable sub-brands such as the TUF lineup by Asus remain the saving grace for budget-conscious gamers. The TUF lineup witnessed a slew of additions at CES 2025, among which is the new TUF A18 next-generation gaming laptop. At 18 inches, the colossal laptop will certainly delight desktop-replacement aficionados.

At its heart, the Asus TUF A18 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 260 "Hawk Point" processor, featuring 8 Zen 4 cores and 16 threads. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be an option for Zen 5-based offerings such as Strix Point or Strix Halo, likely in the name of cost-cutting. The TUF A18 can also be equipped with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, which should bring forth admirable performance potential, although it won't be rivaling any enthusiast-grade systems. The system can be configured with up to 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 solid-state storage

At its front, a massive 18-inch IPS display takes the stage with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a snappy refresh rate of 240 Hz. Asus claims a peak brightness of 500 nits, and 100% coverage of DCI-P3 gamut, making it well-suited for professional workloads as well. A healthy array of connectivity options is on offer, including USB4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, Type-A, HDMI 2.1, LAN, as well as an audio jack. Wireless requirements are taken care of by WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. A 90 Wh battery is also present, although let's face it: an 18-inch gaming laptop is not gonna last a day unplugged. At 2.6 kg, customers are likely going to have a tough time hauling the laptop around in a backpack, which is to be expected from an 18-inch laptop.

Although there are no details on pricing or availability yet, we can expect the Asus TUF A18 to be relatively affordable. The system might not be here to dethrone the flagships, but it certainly packs what's needed to deliver a great gaming experience without robbing customers blind.
