The Asus Vivobook 18 is now available in Germany and should hit other markets shortly. For instance, the laptop can be ordered at Notebooksbilliger for €899 (including 19% VAT) and comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 260, which has eight Zen 4 cores with boost clock speeds up to 5.1GHz and an integrated AMD Radeon 780M. The chipset in the Vivobook 18 has a TDP of 35 watts.
The 18-inch notebook further sports 16GB RAM and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, but a model variant with 1TB SSD storage is available for a €100 surcharge. The Vivobook 18 is about 0.8 inches thick and weighs 5.7lbs, which means that it’s not exactly portable. In return, buyers can look forward to a huge 18.4-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The IPS panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, brightness of 300 nits and refresh rate of up to 144Hz.
Despite its large size, the Vivobook 18 has a rather limited selection of ports, including two USB-C 3.2, two USB-A 3.2, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. While the two USB-C ports only offer a bandwidth of 5 Gbit/s, they do support DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery, which allows the laptop to be used with a docking station.
The large trackpad supports numerous gestures. For example, moving a finger up or down along the right edge of the touchpad adjusts screen brightness. The webcam has a privacy cover, while the infrared camera can be used to unlock the notebook. More details and info on the Vivobook 18 can be found on the official product page.
