Oppo's next smartphone could likely be a mid-range gaming device featuring a cooling fan, RGB lighting accents and Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. Digital Chat Station, which has a reputation for accurate rumours, has just posted a leaked hands-on photo of the device, along with these few details.
The photo shows the rear of the purported K13 Turbo (in a bright blue colourway) with what appears to be a circular fan vent, designed and positioned to look like one of the lenses on the camera unit. Speaking of, the camera setup is a standard dual sensor type of unknown—though likely unimpressive—specifications, given it's on the back of a gaming-oriented phone.
Two RGB LED strips run along the edges and, combined with the striking blue colour, deliver the obligatory gamer aesthetic.
The last and rather important piece of information about this phone is that, at least for now, it is set to launch only in China. Whether it'll make its way to other markets, or when, is not known.
Active fan cooling is still a bit of a niche feature but not unheard of. The RedMagic 10 Pro (curr. $749 on Amazon) is a popular phone that features it. Vapour chamber cooling, found in several flagship models, is more expensive, but also comes out far ahead in terms of slimness, energy efficiency (it requires no power), silent operation and effective surface area. Cooling fans can dissipate heat faster in extreme use cases like gaming, but isn't very well suited for balanced, all-round usage.
Naturally, it bears mentioning that, as with any leak, this report is not definitive, and should not be taken at face value.
