Asus has started rolling out a major new update for the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X. Available worldwide, the new update brings AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1 (AFMF 2.1) to both gaming handhelds, albeit with a warning for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.

Without warning, Asus has released a major update to the ROG Ally X and the original ROG Ally (curr. $549.99 on Amazon). Officially, the company has not mentioned the update on its forums. Instead, people have spotted new graphics drivers being added to Asus' product support pages.

Specifically, the company has introduced V32.0.13031.9000, which adds AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1 (AFMF 2.1) support for both devices. To recap, AFMF 2.1 arrived in March with no new hardware requirements over AFMF 2. Nonetheless, version 2.1 is said to improve overall image quality while further minimising ghosting. Please see the video embedded below for examples of popular triple-A titles utilising AFMF 2 and AFMF 2.1.

According to early reports, V32.0.13031.9000 may not be showing for the ROG Ally in some markets. If that is the case for the ROG Ally or ROG Ally X, then you can download Asus' new graphics drivers manually via the links below. Please note that these are hosted on Asus' website. Also, while the new drivers could improve image fidelity in certain circumstances, they may also cause The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered to crash on launch.
