The Nintendo Switch 2 is still over a month out from release but a Japanese speedrunner has already beat The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the upcoming handheld. It took him under 20 minutes to achieve the feat and reach the game’s end credits. Not much can be said about the improved performance of the game from the video posted on the speedrunner’s YouTube channel, but it is still an interesting watch.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the original launch title with the Switch back in 2017 and an enhanced Switch 2 Edition will launch alongside the successor on June 5. However, Japanese speedrunner Ikaboze has already become the first gamer to reach the game’s end credits on the unreleased Nintendo Switch 2. And, he did so in under 20 minutes because that was allotted time for the demo at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience: Tokyo event.
The video shows Ikaboze using an autosave situated outside Hyrule Castle, so he does have the late game abilities and health, but he removes his armor and goes in with a sword and a shield. Navigating and avoiding enemies around the castle, he reaches Ganon and defeats him, bringing up the end credits for seemingly the first time on the Switch 2 Edition of the game.
The video is not clear enough to make out the graphical improvements of the game or the frame rates. The Switch 2 Edition is said to bring faster load times, better graphics, and smoother frame rates. The upgrade pack for the game costs $10 while the full game is priced at $70.
