The Mini Zero 28 arrived less than six months ago. Subsequently, the company shared new details about the long-awaited Zero 40 and possible clamshell alternatives to the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. Nonetheless, MagicX has decided to refresh the Mini Zero 28 with a V2 model instead.
To recap, the Mini Zero 28 features a 2.8-inch display like the Anbernic RG28XX (curr. $49.99 on Amazon). However, MagicX's compact gaming handheld leverages the Allwinner A133P chipset found across the TrimUI Brick, TrimUI Smart Pro, Powkiddy V20 and now the R36S Plus rather than the ageing Allwinner H700 used in the Anbernic RG28XX. On top of that, the Mini Zero 28 contains 2 GB of DDR4 RAM, a 2,900 mAh battery and Wi-Fi connectivity.
For the Mini Zero 28 V2, MagicX claims to have improved D-pad and shoulder button tactility, which were points of complaint on original units. MagicX has also repositioned the handheld's USB Type-C port, which now sits flush against its shell to maximise cable compatibility. The Mini Zero 28 V2 is available to order from MagicX directly starting at $59 in Black, Glacier and Purple colourways with a 64 GB MicroSD card. Please see the company's website for more details.
