MagicX has released a new retro gaming handheld, although not any of the MediaTek Dimensity-powered options it teased last year. Instead, it has started selling the Mini Zero 28, which looks like the infamous XU Mini M on the face of it.
However, MagicX alleges to have swapped the ageing Rockchip RK3326 for an Allwinner A133P found in TrimUI's Brick and Smart Pro gaming handhelds (curr. $91.99 on Amazon). The combination of an A133P and 2 GB of DDR4 RAM should make the Mini Zero 28 powerful enough to emulate many Nintendo 64 and PlayStation Portable titles. We recommend waiting for independent reviews to arrive before passing judgement in this regard.
MagicX has also included a 2.8-inch with a 640 x 480-pixel native output, just like the XU Mini M, but a 300 mAh larger battery that delivers a 2,900 mAh peak capacity for up to nine hours of usage between charges. Surprisingly, the Mini Zero 28 runs Android 10 too unlike many of its Linux-based peers. Currently, the Mini Zero 28 can be picked up from the MagicX shop in one of three colours with a starting price of $55.
