Nintendo Switch 2 outpaces PS5 reveal on YouTube with over 17 million views in under 48 hours

After staying in the rumor mill for years, the Nintendo Switch 2 became official on January 16. The first video published by the company has given a detailed look at the gaming handheld, and this trailer appears to be doing very well. To be specific, the reveal video got over 17 million views in less than 48 hours.

Of course, the first-gen Nintendo Switch trailer did better, garnering 19.5 million views on YouTube in the same two-day time frame. What's rather interesting is that the reveal video of the new gaming handheld has beat the first official video of PlayStation 5, which got around 13.3 million views in 48 hours.

Another thing to note is that the reveal trailer of the Nintendo Switch 2 on X is getting even more attention. It has received over 40 million views on the Nintendo of America account, while the video on the Japanese account has over 52 million views.

All this makes it pretty evident that there's a lot of hype around the Nintendo Switch 2. While the reveal trailer does hint that the gaming handheld will live up to the hype, the price will be a big deciding factor. Looking back, the first-gen model launched at $299.99, which is considered to be pretty affordable when compared to the other popular handhelds like the ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme curr. $499.99 on Best Buy). 

According to a recent report, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch at $499 and come bundled with a Mario Kart game. Without the game bundle, the gaming handheld is speculated to cost $449.99. More details will be confirmed by the company at the coming Nintendo Direct event.
