Ayaneo has teased a new version of its upcoming high-end gaming handheld. The Ayaneo 3 will now be sold in three finishes, including a Retro Power Edition that should be configurable with a 144 Hz OLED display and up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU.

The Ayaneo 3 has been a long time coming. To recap, the device debuted before Ayaneo refreshed the AM01, AM02, Pocket S and Pocket Micro. Likewise, the Ayaneo 3 was first teased a few days prior to the release of the AG01 Starship Graphics Dock at the end of October.

While the Ayaneo 3 was the first gaming handheld confirmed to utilise AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU, many comparable rivals have beat the device to market. For example, the OneXPlayer F1 Pro began shipping in November with the same APU and up to 64 GB of RAM (curr. $1,754 on Amazon). Meanwhile, GPD is now offering the Win Mini with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or the cheaper Ryzen AI 9 365 too.

By contrast, Ayaneo has only committed to launching the Ayaneo 3 'soon' in Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 9 365 variants. Previously, the device was set to be available in black and white colourways, unlike past Ayaneo gaming handhelds. However, the company has confirmed that a Retro Power Edition will also be sold with a more colourful appearance. More details about the Ayaneo 3 can be found on the company's Indiegogo campaign page.
