Shokz has announced the OpenDots ONE earbuds for sports and exercise, and its open-ear design allows wearers to hear teammates at all times. Each earbud uses Bassphere technology with two drivers to reproduce powerful sound enhanced by Dolby Audio. The OpenDots ONE has an MSRP of $199.95 and is available on the Shokz store on Amazon in grey and black.
The earbuds stay on thanks to the JointArc nickel-titanium bands that bend freely, but hold securely to the outer ear during intense exercise. Silicone-covered touch points help improve the fit and hold. Its open-ear design also eliminates earwax contamination and the uncomfortable feeling of sticking something into the ear canals, which in-ear designs suffer from.
The Dolby Audio comes with four EQ presets, with two additional ones that can be customized. People nearby won't be annoyed by the open-ear design due to the DirectPitch active noise-leakage reduction technology that keeps sound in the ears, not the surroundings. AI-powered, beamforming microphones actively reduce background noise for clear calls outdoors.
The clip-on earbuds automatically detect which ear they are worn on and switch left/right audio channels as appropriate. They are controlled by touch when connected to up to two audio sources at once.
The lightweight OpenDots ONE weigh 0.23 oz. (6.5 g) per earbud and 1.8 oz. (52 g) with the case. The earbuds are IP54-rated for dust and water resistance. They have a 10-hour runtime, with a total runtime of 40 hours with the charging case. A quick charge of 10 minutes adds two hours of runtime, and a full charge takes one hour.
