The Walkman Blog has revealed new information about the WH-1000XM6 just a few days after Roland Quandt did the same. To recap, the latter suggested that Sony's next-generation over-ear wireless headphones would be available soon in a choice of three colours. More importantly, Quandt alleged that the WH-1000XM6 would cost roughly 10% more in Europe than the WH-1000XM5 (curr. $398 on Amazon).
While that may be true, The Walkman Blog's latest information suggests this price increase will not be reflected in the US. Instead, it claims to have received information from a 'trusted source' who indicates that the WH-1000XM6 will retail for $479 converted from an unspecified second currency. Thus, the actual US pricing could well be lower, although we would not be surprised to see another $50 generational jump to $449.
Regardless, The Walkman Blog also indicates that the WH-1000XM6 may not be available from retailers until mid-June, even if it launches later this month. The website adds that this retail availability could be regional-specific, though. As a result, the WH-1000XM6 could reach certain key markets slightly earlier.
Moreover, The Walkman Blog reports that the WH-1000XM6 will fold in a departure from its predecessor and a return to the design of the WH-1000XM4. Sony is said to have redesigned the headband between generations too, albeit with unchanged ear cups in tow. As far as we can tell, The Walkman Blog has implied that it has already seen pictures of the WH-1000XM6, although this is only speculative on our behalf. Nonetheless, we suspect the first images of Sony's new headphones will leak shortly.
