At first glance, the km5 Hp1 are reminiscent of headphones that came with Sony Walkmans and Discmans many years ago. The unpadded headband might look a little uncomfortable, but it contributes to their low weight of just 3.6 ounces, which supposedly makes padding redundant. On the other hand, the ear pads are made of soft fabric and are magnetically attached, meaning they can be easily replaced.
These headphones aim to combine an '80s and '90s feeling with modern technologies, as the Hp1 support Bluetooth 5.4 including Bluetooth LE. Km5 further advertises 24 hours of battery life, while a full recharge via USB-C takes around three hours. If the headphones are connected to a smartphone or computer via USB-C, they can play music at up to 24-bit and 96 kHz, which should effectively result in a frequency range of 20Hz to 25kHz.
Km5 has equipped the Hp1 with dynamic 40mm drivers, which have a sensitivity of 122 dB/mW and a total harmonic distortion of 0.2%. Dedicated buttons on both earcups allow users to control playback and adjust volume. Somewhat unusual for Bluetooth headphones is the fact that the left and right sides must be turned on and off separately since there is no cable connecting the two sides. For this reason, each side contains a dedicated 120mAh battery that must be charged independently.
