Roland Quandt has weighed in on the state of the WH-1000XM6 following its sighting on Apple's Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad (MFi) database earlier this week. To recap, we suspected that the Apple MFi certification indicated that more substantial leaks were close to appearing online. According to Quandt, that could well be the case.
Unfortunately, the renowned leaker has not revealed images or specifications of Sony's long-awaited WH-1000XM5 successors yet (curr. $398 on Amazon). Instead, they have hinted that the WH-1000XM6 will be arriving 'soon'. Although Quandt has not provided any clarity in this regard, prior rumours pointed to the first or second weeks of May as possible release windows.
Quandt also reports that Sony will offer the WH-1000XM6 in Black, Silver and Midnight Blue colour options, which tallies with earlier leaks. On top of that, the leaker suggests that the price of Sony's premium over-ear headphones will 'go up by like 10%'. Currently, it is unclear whether Quandt means the current price of the WH-1000XM5 or its original MSRP. If it were the former, then the WH-1000XM6 may launch for roughly €339 in the Eurozone. Alternatively, a circa 10% uplift from the WH-1000XM5's original MSRP would see the WH-1000XM6 arriving for closer to €460.
