JBL is expanding its already large lineup of audio products with the JBL Tour One M3 Smart Tx, which are new over-ear headphones. They are now available for an official list price of $399 at the brand’s official online store as well as on Amazon. The aforementioned Smart Tx transmitter can be used to connect a wide variety of devices, including laptops with USB Type-C as well as the in-flight entertainment systems on airplanes, which usually have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, the Smart Tx can be used as an Auracast transmitter and stream audio signals to other compatible devices. A touchscreen is built-in and should allow an easy setup and pairing.
These new JBL headphones can also be hooked up directly via USB-C or a 3.5mm headphone cable. In terms of wireless connections, the Tour One M3 support Bluetooth codecs such as LDAC, which isn’t entirely lossless but should result in decent audio quality. Meanwhile, the active noise cancellation (ANC) feature utilizes a total of 8 microphones and offers different modes such as "Ambient Aware" and "TalkThru". Head-tracking technology for an immersive listening experience is also onboard.
Moreover, JBL specifies a battery life of up to 70 hours in wireless mode, but with ANC disabled. With active noise cancellation, the headphones should last 34 hours on a full charge. That said, the transmitter might be the bottleneck when traveling, as it only lasts 18 hours on a full charge. Last but not least, JBL offers a smartphone app to manage its new headphones and adjust certain settings.
