Amazon has dropped the price of the JBL Bar 1000MK2 7.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos soundbar to its best price ever following a substantial 38% discount off its $1,199.95 MSRP.

The 960W soundbar system is able to deliver sound with "great dynamics performance", notes Rtings.

The 300W main soundbar unit uses Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound technologies with two 80W detachable wireless rear speakers for true surround sound. Although their wireless design does introduce some latency, the battery-powered design makes setting up a surround sound system much easier than a wired surround sound system by eliminating both audio and power cables. They can run up to 10 hours between charges, says JBL.

The soundbar is coupled with a 500W subwoofer, which is capable of "delivering blockbuster films with ample bass rumble" across a frequency range of 33 Hz to 20 kHz, says Rtings. Despite delivering the JBL signature sound with punchy bass, the 1000MK2 does lag behind better surround sound systems that have superior height information due to the use of additional satellite speakers mounted high and low.

Dialogue is processed by PureVoice 2.0 technology to help ensure clear voices at all volume levels, while soundtracks are processed by SmartDetails technology to bring out the subtle details of the sound mix, says JBL.

The soundbar supports music streaming over Bluetooth connections thanks to AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Roon Ready compatibility. It also supports MP3 playback from USB-A flash drives. The Bar can connect to up to three televisions and video sources simultaneously using its HDMI HDCP 2.3 ports. It also supports optical audio input.
