JBL has a new Bluetooth speaker on offer, the JBL Boombox 4, which is currently only available in China; information on other markets is not yet available. Given that other products, including the direct predecessor, are widely available, it is likely that the JBL Boombox 4 will soon also find its way to other markets. The new model is priced at the equivalent of around $558 in China.
The JBL Boombox 4 is said to be 12% lighter than the previous model. It weighs 5.89 kilograms and its dimensions are stated as 506.4 x 262.9 x 212.9 millimeters. Thanks to an integrated handle, the speaker should also be very easy to carry to transport. IP68 certification is advertised, meaning that the speaker should not be damaged by dust and water within the limits of the certification.
Bluetooth 5.4 and Auracast are supported, as is playback of audio content via USB-C. In addition to the two 5-inch subwoofers, there are two tweeters and three passive radiators. A maximum RMS output of 210 watts is specified when plugged in, and up to 180 watts when running on battery power. The built-in battery has a capacity of 99 Wh, and a special feature for extending battery life is said to provide up to 34 hours of runtime. The JBL Boombox 4 can output up to 30 watts.
