In 2023, we reported on the JBL Authentics 200, which is now widely available at retailers such as Amazon. JBL is now launching a new variant of the speaker, specifically the JBL Authentics 200 Platinum Edition. As the name suggests, the changes are purely visual and there are no new features in terms of technology. That said, the JBL Authentics 200 Platinum Edition is cream colored with gold accents, while the front has a grid layout and is based on the JBL L100 Classic. The new model is currently available in China at a price of around $275. Information on price or availability for countries outside China is still pending, but a global release is not unlikely.
The JBL Authentics 200 is equipped with two 25-millimetre tweeters, a 5-inch full-range woofer and a 6-inch passive radiator. The possible use of various voice assistants is advertised; Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa can reportedly run on the device at the same time. The speaker, which has a maximum output of 90 watts, can be connected to a player via Bluetooth 5.3, but also supports WiFi and comes with a classic 3.5 millimeter jack connection. Spotify Connect is supported as well as AirPlay and Alexa Multiroom, enabling media playback in multiple rooms. Lastly, firmware updates can be installed via WiFi.
