The new Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound combines RGB lighting with JBL speaker technology
When manufacturers combine two different types of products, the results aren't always spectacular. Still, Govee has been mostly successful in branching out its smart light lineup. The new Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound blends its popular RGB effects with a wireless JBL speaker. Buyers can customize 210 LED beads that respond to the sound produced by a 2.5-inch 500cc speaker. The $179.99 Table Lamp 2 Pro will be available at Govee.com and select retailers on June 23rd.
The Table Lamp 2 Pro shares many of the same features as Govee's other lamps, bulbs, and wall panels. The Govee Home app allows users to choose from 100 preset scenes that seek to fit any mood or time of day. Or, it's possible to develop unique creations with different colors displayed on each of the over 200 bulbs. Owners can also control the device with touch controls or voice commands through Google Assistant or Alexa. Matter compatibility can overcome the lack of Apple Home support with many Govee lights.
The latest Govee lamp tries to overcome the latency experienced when audio interacts with other smart lights. With the integrated JBL speaker, the company claims that the Table Lamp 2 Pro reacts to beats within 32 milliseconds. Owners can also stack two lamps together to create a stereo soundscape. Operating over 5.8GHz Wi-Fi should allow both the lighting effects and audio channels to remain synchronized.
Early reviews of the Table Lamp 2 Pro suggest that volume levels are not an issue with the JBL wireless speaker. Using the internal 5200mAh battery, Govee claims that cord-free concerts will last up to 4.5 hours. It's also possible to plug the lamp into a constant power source, but the adapter is proprietary.
At $179.99, buyers will pay a premium compared to alternative Govee lights, such as the discounted Table Lamp 2. Even so, the upgraded lamp could streamline setups by eliminating the need for a standalone Bluetooth speaker.
