Xiaomi Sound Pocket: Ultra-compact Bluetooth speaker competes with the JBL Go 4

Teaser
Xiaomi is launching a particularly compact Bluetooth speaker, namely the Sound Pocket, onto the global market as a direct competitor to the JBL Go 4. It offers Bluetooth 5.4 and up to 10 hours of battery life at a weight of just 200 g.

Another new Bluetooth speaker from Xiaomi, the Sound Pocket, is about to be launched globally alongside the larger Xiaomi Sound Outdoor. The company has just listed the new model on its global website, which suggests an international launch outside of China.

It remains unknown when the new Xiaomi Sound Pocket will arrive in Europe or the US. Unfortunately, Xiaomi's global website doesn't reveal the price of the ultra-compact speaker either. But it does at least provide all technical details about the new Bluetooth speaker for the global market.

The new Xiaomi Sound Pocket is positioned as a competitor to the brand new JBL Go 4 and is also a very compact Bluetooth speaker. Its dimensions are only around 91 x 75 x 43 mm and supposedly weighs just 200 g. This would make the new Sound Pocket very portable and easy to transport, also thanks to the small rubber loop that can be used to attach it to a key ring, for example.

The output power of the built-in driver and subwoofer is relatively modest at 5 W, which is not surprising given the size of the speaker. The playtime of the 1000 mAh battery, on the other hand, is quite solid at up to 10 hours at 40% volume. According to Xiaomi, the recharging time is 3 hours. The Bluetooth 5.4 speaker is dust and waterproof in accordance with IP67 and can thus be used on the beach, for example. Two devices can also be paired wirelessly to form a stereo pair.
