Xiaomi has launched the Smart Speaker Pro in China. Rumors about this new smart home device began earlier this month. The company claims that it has many upgrades compared to the original Smart Speaker, which launched globally in 2022.
The Smart Speaker Pro is designed for you to control smart home devices, answer your questions and play music. It is the first model from the brand to feature the Super Xiao AI voice assistant. Xiaomi indicates that Xiao AI can now help you in more scenarios, assisting you with copywriting, planning, learning English and calculations. It can also handle multiple questions; for example, you can give it multiple commands for multiple devices at the same time. Plus, it is said to have a more natural tone and dialogue.
The speaker has a 2.5-inch full-range speaker with dual passive radiators. You can link to units for a stereo sound experience, and it supports streaming from many popular platforms. There is an intercom feature, which you could use to call your family to dinner via other smart speakers in your home. The Smart Speaker Pro can act as an infrared remote control for non-smart devices and is compatible with 18 types of home appliances from over 8,000 brands. On top of this, there are dynamic lighting effects linked to your Super Xiao AI conversation or the music playing. Other features include Bluetooth 5.0, Xiaomi IOT Mesh 2.0 and HyperOS.
The speaker has a finely woven fabric outer, physical control buttons on the top, and measures 110 x 110 x 209 mm. The Xiaomi Smart Speaker Pro retails for CNY 369 (~$) in China. It is unclear whether or when this smart home product could launch in other markets. The original Mi Smart Speaker (IR Control) with Google Assistant is currently available at Amazon US via a third-party seller for $60.64.
