The PP-1 turntable from creative studio Waiting for Ideas in Paris utilizes the technology of the Miniot Wheel 2, but packs it into a housing that is milled from a solid block of aluminum. The elliptical diamond-cut stylus is concealed under a motorized cover that opens when the turntable is switched on.
The turntable thus uses a tangential tonearm that sits on the underside of the record, meaning that users have to get used to placing records "upside down", i.e., the side that is to be played is facing downwards. The housing measures 35 x 35 x 7 centimeters. Both 45 and 33 rpm records are supported, of which the speed can be adjusted via a rotary control on the top. Power is supplied via USB-C.
The accompanying speakers are designed in the shape of a cube with an edge length of 35 centimetres, so that the record player can be placed on one of the speakers to save space if desired. The frequency range is specified as 44 Hz to 20 kHz and the maximum volume as 105 dB (SPL) with an output power of 80 watts.
