Fostex has unveiled the TH910 closed-back and the TH919 open-back flagship headphones, replacing the TH900 series. Both models are finished with Japanese-lacquered maple housings decorated with sulfur-smoked silver foil patterning by Urushi Sakamoto Co., Ltd.
Both over-ear headphones leverage the company’s 50mm BioDyna driver, with an updated design that leverages a new voice coil and driver surround to help deliver bass with low artifacts and reduced muddiness, according to Fostex. The drivers have a frequency response of 12.5 to 40,000 Hz, with an impedance of 25 ohms and sensitivity of 100 dB/mW.
These premium headphones are designed for high-power amps and can handle inputs up to 1,800 mW over the included 3.5 mm oxygen-free copper cable (7N). A balanced 4.4 mm cable will be released at a later date.
Lightweight magnesium alloy is used to drop the weight of the headphones by approximately 20% over the prior models, and both headphones now weigh 13.6 oz. (385 g). The headband uses natural sheepskin padding while the ear cups use silk protein synthetic leather over contoured, dual-density urethane foam.
Readers can look for the TH910 and TH919 in the Fostex store on Amazon when they begin shipping in September 2025. Pricing has not been announced, but will likely start around $2,000.
