Leaks relating to Sony's next pair of high-end wireless over-ear headphones are coming thick and fast. Just yesterday, design and release information concerning the WH-1000XM6 appeared online thanks to The Walkman Blog. Now, the same set of headphones has been spotted on Amazon Spain ahead of schedule.
As the screenshots below show, the listing not only appears to confirm the release date and Eurozone pricing for Sony's long-awaited WH-1000XM5 successors but also various specifications to boot. On the one hand, the listing specifies a May 15 release, possibly simultaneously alongside the rumoured Xperia 1 VII.
A €470 launch price is also mentioned, which converts to $438.99 excluding Spain's 21% VAT. Ultimately, this leaked pricing tallies with prior suggestions that the WH-1000XM6 could retail for around 10% more than the WH-1000XM5 in Europe (curr. $398 on Amazon). Likewise, a price of $438.99 represents an equivalent uplift in the US too.
On the other hand, the Amazon Spain listing also speaks of upgrades like a new QN3 processor and a third more microphones for improved active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency modes. Moreover, a new magnetic case is on the cards, as is a 10-band equaliser and 360-degree upmix for cinema to create surround sound content. Aligning with prior rumours, the WH-1000XM6 will mark a return to Sony's older foldable design concept too.
Conversely, it seems that the WH-1000X will return with a set of 30 mm drivers, along with up to 30 hours of battery life. Images are the only aspect of the WH-1000XM6 that have not leaked yet. However, we would not be surprised if these appeared online before launch day. For the time being, the full list of features mentioned by Amazon Spain can be found in the screenshot below.
