Sony has announced its plans to take the wraps off its next flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, on May 13. That phone may be joined by the mid-range Xperia 10 VII, but a new leak now claims Sony could have an entirely new model in the works too.
According to a new report by Sumaho Digest, it appears an unknown Sony Xperia smartphone may be in the works as well. The cited post vehemently claims that the device in question is not the upcoming Xperia 10 VII but a new, similar model. It also shows off an image of a phone with a horizontally-stacked rear camera setup, very much like that of the first-gen Xperia 10.
Considering the presence of just two lenses and the absence of a Zeiss badge, the device shown in the image is likely not a premium model but a more affordable offering. Recent reports have hinted at Sony potentially moving the Xperia 10 VI upmarket—making it a sub-premium model closer to the now-discontinued Xperia 5 series—and those reports may have been based on this new, mysterious phone. There's also a chance, of course, that this rumor is baseless, so you'd do well to take it all with a pinch of salt.
