As Casio continues to team up with apparel brands like Ron Herman and Offspring, the Japanese timepiece manufacturer has quietly decided to introduce the MTP-B190 series alongside. It's a small lineup of rectangular watches that feature old-school styling, and interestingly enough, four new models have popped up online, all using Roman numerals, simple cases, and clean layouts.
The look is pretty straightforward: narrow bezels, sharp corners, and a plain analog dial. You get a central seconds hand, 50 meters of water resistance, and a quartz movement powered by a basic SR626SW battery. Battery life is rated for around three years, which is standard at this level.
There’s no solar charging, no smart features, and no unusual materials. The watch has mineral glass over a dial that looks like something you might have seen in the '80s or '90s. The five variants include a couple of leather strap models, and the other with stainless-steel bracelets. Case size comes in at 41 x 31.5 x 8.1 mm, which should wear well for most wrists without feeling oversized or too dainty.
The gold-tone model with the white dial has gotten a bit more attention than the rest, but the dark navy and green variants should also be pretty popular among collectors who like affordable dress watches. Some fans have casually nicknamed it the "Tankasio" - a not-so-subtle nod to the Cartier Tank, though this one’s clearly doing its own thing at a fraction of the price.
For those looking for a low-key, reliable, rectangular watch that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is, the MTP-B190 lineup might be worth a look.
