Sony WH-1000XM6: Sooner than expected launch revealed in new rumours

Sony delivered the WF-C710N at the end of last month following a spate of leaks concerning the mid-range earbuds. Simultaneously, the company updated the WH-CH520 and WH-CH720N (curr. $85.99 on Amazon), albeit only with new colour options. However, a new rumour suggests that the long-awaited return of the WH-1000X series is on the horizon.

Allegedly, the WH-1000XM6 could arrive as soon as next month, with The Walkman Blog specifying the first or second week of May as likely release windows. If this is accurate, then we would expect substantial WH-1000XM6 leaks to occur towards the end of this month. Typically, this would take the form of early retailer listings, which would reveal specifications, promotional pictures and even launch pricing.

In the meantime, what appears to be the WH-1000XM6 has already received regulatory approval across the US, South Korea and other markets. The over-ear headphones look set to launch in Black, Midnight Blue and Platinum Silver colour options. With that being said, these are unlikely to be the only colours in which the WH-1000XM6 will be available. Instead, Sony has a habit of introducing mid-cycle refreshes, as it did last year with its Smoky Pink update of the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM5.
