The brand-new WiiM Amp Ultra puts the capabilities of the WiiM Amp Pro amplifier and the WiiM Ultra Hi-Fi streamer into one single device, which also promises better performance. Specifically, the WiiM Amp Ultra delivers 100 watts per channel at an impedance of 8 ohms, or 200 watts at 4 ohms via two Texas Instruments TPA3255 Class-D amplifiers. This should be enough power to drive larger speakers.
In addition to stereo speakers, an active subwoofer can be connected to the back of the WiiM Amp Ultra. However, this model lacks a headphone jack or an integrated phono preamplifier. Analog sources such as turntables with an integrated preamplifier can still be connected, but with connectivity options like HDMI eARC and Toslink, this product is clearly designed for televisions and home theaters.
Thanks to Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, the WiiM Amp Ultra can also stream music wirelessly and supports the most important standards and services including Google Cast, Alexa Cast, Amazon Music, Tidal and Spotify Connect. That said, there's one notable exception, as Apple AirPlay is missing from the list of supported streaming interfaces. Anyhow, the WiiM Amp Ultra can automatically adjust the sound to a room and sports a touchscreen on the front, a corresponding smartphone app and remote control are available as well.
Price and availability
The WiiM Amp Ultra amplifier will hit the market in the 3rd quarter of 2025, but the manufacturer has yet to confirm an official list price. For context, the WiiM Amp Pro currently retails for $379 on Amazon.
