Shelly is updating its product range and now offers a new generation of smart switches. These are designed to be versatile and promise compatibility with various protocols.

Shelly has introduced the 4th generation of its relays and power measurement systems. To put it simply, these are smart switches for more ambitious users who are not fans of inline plugs. These smart switches are hardwired and can be hidden inside a suitable flush mount. Therefore, this solution is primarily intended for devices that remain in the same place for a long time, such as lamps or power outlets.

The new switches come in several variants, namely the Shelly 1PM Mini Gen4 for just under €21, the Shelly EM Mini Gen4 for just under €20, the Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 for around €18, and the Shelly 1PM Gen4 for €25. US prices are still pending.

While the Shelly 1 Mini Gen 4 is primarily designed for lamps, the Shelly 1PM Mini can also measure the power consumption. These two products can handle loads of up to 8 amps, while the Shelly EM Mini Gen4 is not even a smart switch but can only measure the power consumption and supports up to 16 amps.

The Shelly 1 Gen4 is priced at €22. Users of the fourth generation have several connectivity options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and ZigBee for wireless control. The smart switch is also Matter-certified and compatible with Apple HomeKit. According to the manufacturer, the devices can also be used as ZigBee range extenders, which can be useful if something needs to be switched on and off in a secondary building without a WiFi signal. These smart home gadgets are already available at the brand’s official online store in some regions, but the US store doesn’t seem to have them in stock at the time of publication.
