Shelly H&T Gen3: New environmental sensor for your own four walls enables home automation and comes with long battery life
Shelly is known as a provider of various smart home solutions; the company's switch solutions, which are also come with power consumption measurements of, are popular choices among buyers. With the Shelly H&T Gen 3, the company has now introduced the third generation of a sensor for measuring home temperature and humidity.
Basically, the Shelly H&T Gen 3 can only measure humidity and temperature. No smart hub is necessary, so the model can be controlled directly via the Shelly Smart Control app. Integration into the smart home is possible via WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2, so the measured values generated by the Shelly H&T Gen 3 can also be accessed via voice assistants, for example.
The options for networking are particularly interesting, as the Shelly H&T Gen 3 can also naturally be used for home automation. In this context, it is conceivable that fans, heaters or the AC are activated as soon as a certain humidity level is exceeded, such as in the bathroom after a shower.
The sensor, which measures 70 x 70 x 45 mm with a stand, is said to be able to detect a temperature of between 0 and 40 °C and a relative humidity of between 30 and 70%. It is powered by four AA batteries and the battery life is specified as up to twelve months. USB type C also allows for a wired power supply.
An energy-saving display is built right in, on which the humidity and temperature, connection status, time and battery capacity can be read. The sensor is available at a price of just under $26.
